Hyaluronic Acid is such a dynamic and powerful product that really helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and helps keep your skin hydrated and moisturised, but using your Hyaluronic Acid serum incorrectly can actually do more harm than good ( well just cause more dryness and breakouts). So here is our top tips in using a Hyaluronic Serum effectively and actually help you achieve plump, hydrated and happy skin!
But first what is Hyaluronic Acid?
To put simply, it’s a water-loving molecule also known as a humectant. Humectants (think: humidity) are masters at attracting and binding water, the best part about hyaluronic acid is its ability to hold 1000 times its own weight in water! This means it not only keeps water content within the skin, but when it expands it allows the skin to be visibly appear plump and smoother.
Our Top Tips!
It is important to make sure you apply your Hyaluronic Acid to skin that is moist and damp because hyaluronic acid works by drawing moisture from deeper layers of the skin therefore it is so important to remember to ensure your skin is damp and moist.
So we recommend applying your serum after cleansing and spraying the antioxidant mist, this ensures that the hyaluronic serum is drawing moisture from the mist and water from cleansing rather than your skin.
Right after applying the Hyaluronic Serum to damp skin we recommend sealing it all in with a moisturiser, this ensures your skin receives all the moisture and nourishment it needs for plump, smooth and hydrated skin.
It's really that easy babe!
So what happens if I don't follow the rules!
Well, what ends up happening is moisture is drawn from your skin which in turn leaves your skin dry and possibly may cause breakouts! We do not want that! So be viligant with the damp skin prior to use.
Can I use the Hyaluronic Serum with other products?
Yes, Hyaluronic Serums are so versatile and compatible with many other ingredients. Retinol is powerhouse but can be a tricky product even on its own, but still works really well with the Hyaluronic Acid. But... always use retinol before Hyaluronic acid and use this duo in the PM (always retinol in the PM). Another great duo is the Hyaluronic Acid with our Superfood Moisturiser this pairing is a great combo and works nicely together giving your plump and moist skin!
